St. George Island
March 3rd-6th, 2014
LDC spent time this past March on St. George Island off of the coast of Florida. There they were able to engage in sisterhood activities, build their leadership skills and relax in the comforts of the beach house. During the day, we spent time traveling to Tallahassee where the ladies had the opportunity to meet their Big Sisters from the original 2008 group. We toured Florida State University, Florida A&M University and volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club of the Big Bend. While on campus, the young ladies met with the SGA cabinet to talk leadership and spoke with several other undergraduate and graduate students. It was a full throttle trip with incomparable memories.
LDC members spent time in February studying excellence by examining the path's of Olympic history makers Shani Davis and Gabby Douglas. From there, they made personal commitments to create long-term goals and determine what excellence looks like for their path.
On Friday, January 4th 2013, LDC celebrated its fifth year of existence. LDC has inspired young ladies around the south, from the metropolitan city of Atlanta, the college hill of Tallahassee and to the cajun city of New Orleans. We can't wait to continue to grow!
